TOMS RIVER -- For Seven Years, St. Joseph Of Hammonton Has Been Handing North Jersey Football Teams Their Helmets In The State Football Playoffs. On Sunday, St. Mary's Got Revenge.

The Gaels Won 11 Bouts Sunday, Nine Of Them By Pin, To Crush The Wildcats, 61-17, And Win Their Third Straight Non-Public B State Wrestling Championship.

"It Feels Great To Be Able To Come Back And Beat Them," Said Joe Regina, Who Was A Freshman Fullback In 2003, The Last Time St. Mary's Fell To The Wildcats In The Non-Public Group 1 Football Championship. "They Always Win In Football."

St. Joseph Is Riding A State Record Streak Of Seven Straight Non-Public State Football Championships, Beating The Gaels Twice In That Stretch, 2001 And 2003.

"And I Think We Lost To Them A Couple Of Times In The '90s As Well," Said St. Mary's Coach Scot Weaver, Who Is Also A Coach On The Football Team. "Beating Them Today Is A Little Fun Way Of Us Saying We Got You Once."

St. Mary's Got The Wildcats, And Just Kept Getting Them. The Gaels, Who Debuted New Warm-ups Sunday With A Shamrock Displayed Prominently On The Back, Won Eight Straight Bouts From 275 Through 140.
